I’m Andrea Passerini, a mountain sports and commercial photographer based in Italy’s Aosta Valley, at the foot of Mont Blanc.
My work focuses on action sports, mountain environments and outdoor lifestyle, creating visual stories for brands, tourism organizations and editorial clients. Growing up in the Alps shaped both the way I see the world and the way I work. Today I specialize in producing imagery that connects people, movement and landscape, whether documenting athletes in remote terrain or creating commercial campaigns for outdoor products and destinations.
I started shooting in 2005, in a darkroom class at school. After high school I spent two years in a professional printing lab, developing film and producing black-and-white prints while learning where color and tone actually come from. That time behind the enlarger taught me more about images than anything else, and it’s stayed with me ever since.
I studied Sport Sciences, graduating in 2015, which naturally pulled my work toward athletes, performance and movement. In 2017 I spent a year in Australia, and when I came back I committed fully to what had always attracted me most: photographing outdoor and action sports in the environments where they belong.
Over the years I’ve worked across a wide range of mountain sports and outdoor disciplines, including mountain biking, trail running, climbing, skiing, snowboarding and alpinism. My projects span commercial campaigns, tourism promotion and editorial assignments, often in alpine and remote environments where the landscape is as important as the people moving through it.
Over the years I’ve worked with brands, tourism boards and editorial clients across the outdoor, mobility and lifestyle sectors, including Ducati, Pagani Automobili, Land Rover, The North Face, Scott, Brembo, Bold Cycles, Grivel, MV Agusta, THOK E-Bikes, Mercedes-AMG, Garmont, Grivel, Jägermeister, Berlucchi, Automobile Club Italia and Klever Mobility and more.
My work has taken me from the Alps to destinations such as Patagonia, Nepal and Namibia, documenting mountain culture, outdoor experiences, conservation projects and remote environments. While the subjects and locations may change, the goal remains the same: creating images that feel authentic to both the people and the places they represent.
Alongside photography, I’ve always maintained a strong interest in the technical side of image-making, particularly color management. Reliable, well-structured information on the subject was often difficult to find, so I eventually built my own: Color Management Guide, a free resource covering everything from monitor calibration to print workflows. It’s the resource I wish I’d had when I first started.
